Silt Removal Overview
Siltbuster is a family of award winning, patented silt traps water/solids separators designed to remove fine particles from water including silt, raw cement fines and other solids and allow treated water to be retained for recycling or discharge off site in an environmentally friendly manner. Siltbusters are a major improvement over industry’s standard approach of using settling dams, straw filled skips or ineffective settling tanks. Siltbusters are skid-mounted, compact and light weight.
How It Works
Siltbuster mobile silt traps achieve outstanding results in the removal of fine particle from water using proven technology and a radical hydraulic design in a rugged unit. Siltbuster mobile units have been specifically designed to meet the rigours and requirements of modern industry.
In contrast to conventional settlement tanks, Siltbuster’s clever design stills the incoming water and solids mix and routes it upwards between a set of inclined plates for separation.
Fine particles settle onto the multiple plates and slide down to the base for collection whilst treated water flows to an outlet weir after passing below a scum board to retain any floating materials. The inclined plates dramatically increase the effective settling area of the unit resulting in a smaller space requirement on site. Emptying the units can be carried out in a number of ways including via drain ports, vacuum tanker or by manual/mechanical means as required.
Multiple units can be linked together in parallel to give increased capacity and flexibility on site as required.
Some fine silts, clays and colloidal particles settle extremely slowly or not at all. These typically require chemical conditioning of the inflow to ensure complete removal.
Cost effective Siltbusters outperform conventional settlement tanks and lagoons up to 20 times their plan area.
- Small footprint with large settlement area.
- Simple, the unit requires no power, minimal maintenance and has no moving parts.
- Rapid set up, the units are easily mobile/portable and requires minimal set-up on site.
- Units can be linked together to cope with a wide arrange of flows and particle characteristics.
- Water Conservation and the Environment, the units can reduce on site water consumption by removing the solids therefore allowing clarified water to be re-used in your process.
